  Behavioral Health Clinical Guidelines

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Guidelines which are evidenced based address the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit disorder (ADHD) in both children and adults. The guidelines are based on information published by the American Psychiatric Association, National Institutes of Health, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and others. Major Depressive Disorder, Single and Recurrent

Guidelines which are evidenced based address the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of major depressive disorder. References for the guideline include but are not limited to the American Psychiatric Association Guideline for the Treatment of Depression, 2000 and the Harvard Medical School Guide to Suicide Assessment and Intervention 1999. Bipolar Disorder

Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder strive to improve quality, efficiency and consistency and are evidence based. References include but are not limited to American Psychiatric Association Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Patients with Bipolar Disorder, 1994 and Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Practice Parameters for the Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Bipolar Disorder, 1997. Schizophrenia

Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia, which are evidenced based, are written in outline form and contain information on the mental status exam, medication management and managing side effects of medication, recommendation for periodic AIMS testing to assess long term side effects of neuroleptics used to treat thought disorders and recommendations for family therapy. References include but are not limited to Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Patients With Schizophrenia, American Psychiatric Association 1997 and Guidelines for Psychiatrists, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, February 2005.
