What Plans Are Available for My Employees or My Client’s Employees?

BMC HealthNet Plan offers six health benefit plans for Massachusetts small businesses looking for affordable, high-quality health insurance coverage for 50 or fewer employees

These six plans are available through the Massachusetts Health Connector under the name BMC HealthNet Plan Commonwealth Choice and directly through BMC HealthNet Plan under the name BMC HealthNet Plan Employer Choice

  • BMC HealthNet Plan Commonwealth Choice serves small employers with 1 – 50 eligible employees who want to offer coverage to their employees (and their families). 
  • BMC HealthNet Plan Employer Choice serves employers with 6 – 50 employees who want to offer coverage to their employees (and their families).

How Do I Know If My Small Business or My Client’s Small Business Qualifies for Coverage?

In order to qualify for one of BMC HealthNet Plan’s Employer Choice/Commonwealth Choice plans, at a minimum:

  • Your or your client’s business must be located in our employer service area (rating area);and
  • Your or your client’s employees must live in a Massachusetts city or town with zip code that is part of our service area for employees of qualifying small businesses; and
  • the small business must meet the participation and contribution rates required by BMC HealthNet Plan or the Connector for your size group.

How to Enroll

Qualifying groups seeking to cover 1-5 employees must enroll in Commonwealth Choice through the Massachusetts Health Connector by visiting www.mahealthconnector.org or calling 888-813-9220.

Qualifying groups seeking to cover 6-50 employees can enroll in Employer Choice directly (purchase coverage directly through us) by contacting a BMC HealthNet Plan small business representative at directsales@bmchp.org or by calling 617-748-6105. They can also enroll in Commonwealth Choice through the Massachusetts Health Connector by visiting www.mahealthconnector.org or calling 888-813-9220.

Brokers looking to enroll clients in BMC HealthNet Plan’s commercial program should, for the timebeing, enroll their clients in Commonwealth Choice through the Massachusetts Health Connector by visiting www.mahealthconnector.org or calling 888-813-9220. BMC HealthNet Plan is currently developing processes which will enable brokers to enroll their clients directly in our Employer Choice plans.
