If you've ever had a health question but weren't sure whether you should see your doctor, the Nurse Advice Line from BMC HealthNet Plan can help. When you call the special toll-free number, you'll speak with a specially trained nurse. The nurse will ask you some questions to determine how to help you.
When should I call?
Call the Nurse Advice Line anytime, day or night, when:
- You or a member of your family is sick, hurt or needs healthcare advice.
- You're not sure whether to go to the emergency room, make a doctor's appointment, or treat your problem at home.
The Nurse Advice Line from BMC HealthNet Plan doesn't take the place of your primary care physician (PCP). It is important that your PCP provides or coordinates your care. But the Nurse Advice Line can give you answers to your healthcare questions.
What advice will the nurse give me? After talking to you about how you're feeling, the nurse will:
- Help you decide if you should see your doctor or go to the emergency room
- Provide helpful suggestions for how you might take care of yourself at home
