Renew Your MassHealth Coverage

You need to submit a new application for healthcare coverage every year so that MassHealth can confirm that you still qualify.  If you don’t, you will lose your MassHealth coverage and your BMC HealthNet Plan benefits.

 You likely need to renew if:
 You do not need to renew if:
  • You renewed your health coverage online last year
  • Your household has at least one family member in the MassHealth Standard, Family Assistance, or CarePlus program
  • If you submitted an application for MassHealth after October 15, 2014 
  • If you received a letter from MassHealth saying that you were automatically renewed

How Do I Renew?

MassHealth will mail you a letter with your renewal date and a paper application 60 days before your coverage expires. Submit a new application by the date listed in that letter to keep your coverage. If your renewal date has passed, you are encouraged to apply online as soon as possible to minimize your gap in coverage.

  • Online; You may go to MassHealth's website to get started. The fastest and easiest way to reapply for coverage for both individuals and families is by visiting Simply click 'Start Your Application' on the homepage. You will need to create a new account if you do not already have one.
  • Over the phone at 800-841-2900 (TTY: 800-497-4648) with a MassHealth representative who can answer your eligibility questions.
  • In-person at an Enrollment Center. See a list of locations at
  • On paper using the application you received in the mail from MassHealth.
